The top of the Studebaker line, it was the final development of the Hawk series that began with the Golden Hawk in 1956. Featuring a 289ci (4.7L) R1 V8 engine teamed with a 3 speed Manual transmission. This car was ordered with upgraded “Jet Thrust” R-series V-8 engine that was designed for the Avanti and was naturally aspirated. Handling and braking improvements were ordered a-la-carte to handle the enhanced horsepower which include front disc brakes, heavy-duty springs, and front and rear anti-roll bars
